At LiquidChat, we believe privacy is a fundamental human right. Our application is designed to be a secure, transparent shell for interacting with AI models, without acting as a middleman for your data.

1. Data Collection and Storage

LiquidChat operates on a "local-first" principle. We do not operate a backend server that syncs your conversations, API keys, or personal information.

Chat History: All conversations are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is never sent to LiquidChat developers.
API Keys: Your provider API keys (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) are stored in your device's secure Keychain enclave. They are encrypted and only accessible by the app to authenticate requests you initiate.

2. Third-Party AI Providers

To function, LiquidChat connects directly to the AI providers you select (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). When you send a message, the following occurs:

Your message text and system prompts are sent directly from your device to the chosen provider's API.
The provider processes your request and streams the response back to your device.

We leverage native iOS and macOS security features to protect your local data:

Biometric Protection: You can enable FaceID or TouchID to lock the application, preventing unauthorized physical access to your chats and keys.
Sandboxing: LiquidChat runs within the standard Apple App Sandbox, restricting its access to your system files and data.

4. Analytics

We do not collect behavioral analytics, tracking data, or crash reports automatically. If the app crashes, standard Apple OS-level diagnostic reports may be generated depending on your device settings, but these are anonymized and managed by Apple.
